Ace Cafe Rocks !!!
This is a great place to stop by if you are a rock n roll and motor fan or even better both!!! Ace cafe has a huge tradition in London cause has been open since 1938. This place is just amazing. Tradition is the word when you talk about Ace cafe. I am not fooling around with that. Since the first moment you get into the building you will feel a strange sensation of being transported to another dimension. Black Letter or sport jackets grease tight jeans and tuft faces you can see that faces even in young kids pretending to be bad ass riders are the topic of this surrealistic place. It is all about rock n roll bikes and cars.
The place start from long time ago and Ace Cafes has evolved over the years. It was destroyed in the Second War after an air raid and rebuilt it again; Original caf was close in 1969 it where reopened and modernized keeping the characteristic style but adding some new features as a tire or tyres British call it in that way sales and fitting shop. In the past the cafe used to be open 24 hour a day but after the second reopening they adopt a new human schedule of 12 hour daily.
When European rock n roll start in the lately 60s and 70s young people identify itself with this new way of expression. Rebellion anarchy and teen spirit where the perfect ingredients to make rock not only a genre from that moment began to be a way of life and Ace cafe turns into the place to be if you were desirous of be part of this movement.
After the war began to increase traffic and there was a resurgence of British adolescents emerging a kind of single bikers the TonUpBoys. It was a time of hatching by several factors increased the production of motorcycles and appeared madness by Rock’n Roll that linked to this era emerged in the famous jukebox which were present in the cafeterias of road made these become real meeting points of young people. That is how this place changed into a meeting point for bike lovers. With the pass of the time they also adopt cars inside the caf theme and star making classic and sport car demonstration and also a famous London TV show start to be transmitted from the caf. Fift Gear.
Another factor was the Ace Cafe was the Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man to the British went through a true pilgrimage and of course had their stop at this roadside bar. The mix of Rock’n Roll and speed raised among many followers of Norton Triumph Velocette BSA or with its consequent skidding overtaking the “wrong side” contusions and inevitable casualties on the slippery asphalt London. The B.S.A. Gold Star became a reference point.
Live music and decoration were merged in a car shopfactory caf giving you the opportunity of being in one of the coolest place ever and off course have to change to enjoy a cool beer or a good club sandwich. Once again if you like car or bikes and have the chance to be in London for at least one night this place is an obligated stop on your itinerary.
