Bmw Saubers Kubica Takes Fourth Again

Following his horrific crash at the Canadian Grand Prix BMW Saubers Robert Kubica showed that he is not afraid to battle it out with other drivers in the tracks again. Surviving a 75G impact the Polish Formula One driver only suffered a minor concussion and a sprained ankle. Less than 24 hours after his accident the Pole was released from the hospital but was not cleared for the United States Grand Prix.

But in his comeback race the Pole showed that he had not lost his competitive edge by taking fourth place at the French Grand Prix. On Sunday Kubica showed once again that the accident did not affect his game. In fact the accident may have given the Pole the confidence and spark that he needs.

At the British Grand Prix Kubica took fourth place again as he fended off the advances of Ferraris Felipe Massa. In spite of having to start from the third row on the grid after he qualified fifth Kubica managed to get past Massa and defend the fourth place until he crossed the chequered flag.

Kubica is of course thrilled with his contest with Massa. I am very happy. I found myself in front of Felipe Massa but this race was not as easy as in MagnyCours as I had to keep him behind me for the last 13 laps he said. Being behind here is tough as Felipe lost a lot of downforce although he was quicker when he was alone on the track.

He had a harder job than me as I just had to control the situation not push too much not make any mistakes and I was pretty sure I would hold him. In the middle of the race it was quite easy for me but as soon as I heard over the radio that Felipe was closing the gap I tried to push.

The Polish Formula One driver added that: I did everything to get the maximum from the car and from me. We are happy to finish fourth the car felt good and now we have to maximize our potential. Fourth second time in a row and ten points from this isn’t bad.

Meanwhile teammate Nick Heidfeld finished sixth to give BMW Sauber an additional three points. The team now with their F1.07 car with its parts as reliable as BMW 320i parts has strengthened their lead over Renault. BMW Sauber is currently third in the constructors championship standing with 56 points while Renault is fourth with 31 points.

The next race will be at Nrburgring Germany where BMW Sauber is expected to receive much support. BMW Saubers team boss Mario Theissen has this to say in closing: Having collected nine points a week ago in MagnyCours again we scored eight important championship points and strengthened our third place in the constructors’ battle. The pit stops which were crucial to our race strategy played an important part in this success. Performing this way we are well prepared for our home race at the Nrburgring in two weeks.

How To Keep Your Bike Safe From Thieves

1. Invest in a good lock

4. Lock your bike to a post that is long enough

If you lock your bike to a post that is less than 4m in height thieves will not have any difficulty simply lifting the bike off the top. So always ensure that the post you lock your bike to has sufficient height.

5. Lock it tight

No matter what lock you are using to secure your bike make it a point to lock it tight. Leave no space between the bike and the object it is locked to. This will make it all the more difficult for the thief to lever the lock open. Another important point that you got to keep in mind is to invert the keyhole so it is pointing down. This will ensure that the thief is not able to pour it with corrosive fluid and break it open.

6. Take care of removable accessories

If possible always remove accessories like lights. Make sure that your bike seat is fixed to your bike with locking nuts.

7. Register your bike

Registering your bike is a great way to ensure that the police are able to trace and identify your bike incase it gets stolen. There are many websites run by the police where you can get your bike registered. All you need to do is take a picture of your bike and note down details like your bike’s model color and frame number.
